I struggled yesterday with a stupid problem. I have this german client and we've built a website for it. Of course, on the website you have some forms to contact the company by email. The email receiver of these emails is a strange email address that contains special character like "ö". Of course that an email address like röny@domain.com (this address is just an example) does not respect the standards (http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc822.html), but since that's the client's address ...

In .NET sending an email with such an email address results in an error being thrown. The error says, of course, that the email address is not well formatted. At first I thought that I'm missing a text encoding, afterwards I thought I needed an HTML encoding. None of them worked whatsoever. After some tests I discoverred that I had to use an URL encoding, so this kind of email addresses must be URL encoded in order to programatically send emais. After encoding my email address would look like this: r%F6ny@domain.com.

• invat silverlight;am hostat pe un domeniu pe care nu il foloseam momentan un prim sample funny. Iincerc sa fac ceva si mai frumos din el... idei am, sper sa ma ajute si timpul, poate si cheful.
• a avut loc GPEC 2008, cu bune si cu rele... ma abtin de la comentarii.
  
• pe plan personal, toamna e vremea aniversarilor in familia mea, iar torturile sunt la ordinea zilei .
• si, nu in ultimul rand, sa nu uit, printre picaturi am instalat si personalizat si acest blog.
  

Si ar mai fi ceva, dl. primar Mazare se tine de cuvant si ne lasa fara tramvaie. De astazi am vazut ca au inceput sa circule autobuze pe linia 102 din Constanta in locul tramvaielor.

Silverlight apps are cross-browser RIA (Rich Internet Apps). Really? No, of course not. Ooh, maybe, just until FF 3.0 come along ... :) You have to do some manual tricks with some SDK `silverlight.js` file in order to workaround Microsoft's default installer (details here).

Yep, just another typical cross-browser fault from a cross-browser platform!

What I liked from what I've seen lately? Photosynth!

It's a new online software service that allows you to build three-dimensional scenes out of dozens of photographs. That is, you can upload a bunch of images and recreate the 3D representation of a certain place / scene from many pictures of it. It's quite nice, you know? Oh, and it's free. A new technology that Microsoft is working on in its labs; it's funny and you definitely should give it a try.

In ultima vreme lucrez la un proiect cu Dynamic Data (ASP.NET Futures). Interesant, funny, foarte util, super tool. Daca esti programator .NET incerca-l si tu, o sa-ti placa.

Alt proiect, freelance - lucrez la un proiect micut, pixel tracking pentru affiliate marketing. Interesanta ideea, nu este prima oara cand lucrez cu asa ceva, nu e nimic complicat in toata povestea, dar e util pentru cei care vor sa mai stie cate ceva despre clasicul subiect "cum se fac bani pe net".

Cunosti conceptul dropthings? Un site foarte bun, open-source, construit cu AJAX si ASP.NET. Daca te gandesti sa iti faci un site, daca esti in sfera "programming for a living", daca iti plac widgets-urile GO 4 IT! Pentru arhitectura web, implementari ale conceptelor web 2.0 si multe idei noi citeste cartea unui MVP, Omar AL Zabir (autor al Building a Web 2.0 Portal with ASP.NET 3.5). Chiar daca nu stii .NET sigur vei gasi multe lucruri interesante in aceasta carte.

• AjaxView a great tool from MS Research for remotely monitoring web2.0 applications for doing performance work
• Nikhil's Web Development Helper is an add-on that helps AJAX and ASP.NET developers see what is going on with their code
• Firebug - integrates with Firefox. You can edit, debug, and monitor CSS, HTML, and JavaScript live in any web page.
• IE6 and IE7 Virtual PC images
• Visual Web Developer Express 2008 has great JavaScript debugging features
